AutoCAD is primarily used in two distinct ways: as an engineering- or drafting-oriented CAD package, and as a general-purpose 2D drafting package. The user interface (UI) and drawing creation tools are the same in both cases, although AutoCAD offers other tools to aid in other aspects of design (e.g., electrical, mechanical, etc.). Designers use AutoCAD to create architectural and mechanical drawings, facility plans and designs, assembly drawings, cost estimates, and other design-related documents.

The following are details and tutorials about the features of the AutoCAD application and how to use it.

1. Entering Text in Drawings

1.1 Clicking and dragging

The most common way to draw text is by clicking and dragging to create a straight line from the mouse cursor to the location where you want the text to go. To add text, choose Edit, Text, from the Application menu.

Once you start drawing text, you’ll notice a faint line in the drawing to the left of the text. This line is called the text outline. You can interact with this text outline in two ways. First, you can click and drag with the mouse to change the text location. You can also double-click on the line or enter a value to change its length. For example, to change the length of a text outline, click the text line, then enter 3 inches in the Value box (see the top right of the image below).

You can also enter text by pressing Shift and Enter or by clicking the box and entering the text.

The gray-shaded box on the right of the image below marks the Text Margin. This is a user-set value that allows you to place the text within the viewport to the right of the drawing area. When you are drawing text, you may want to place text outside the viewport so that it’s easier to read. For example, in the image below, I am marking the Text Margin to the right of the viewport, which can be seen as the dotted area in the top-right corner of the drawing area.

When you begin entering text, a dotted line shows where your text will be placed. To make a line, click in the Drawing area to place the cursor there, and then type a value in the box on the right. You can move the cursor using the arrow keys or with the mouse, but to create new text

The command for creating and saving a drawing is SCAD. It can be found in the model tree, or as the shortcut “S”.
The command to open a drawing is SCAS.

Timeline Panel
Timeline Panel allows models to be opened in a fixed-height timeline format. The model is viewed as a sequence of drawings with the most recently displayed drawing “current”. The next drawing in the sequence is then moved back, one “frame” to the right. The user can then continue to move forward through the drawings, cycling from frame to frame, or backward through the drawings, cycling from drawing to drawing. Timeline panel support is provided by the Transmit Plug-in.

What’s the appropriate math symbol for angular velocity?

I’m using the symbol $\omega$, but this isn’t quite right. I’m sure there is an alternative.
I want to write the rotation of the object about the $x$-axis:
$\omega \space \hat{x}$

Here’s a link to a formula that works for a right hand coordinate system.

And here’s a link to a diagram that shows it.

You can get away with using just the cross product.
For small angles of rotation $\vec{\omega}=\vec{r} \

Getting a field’s name from a ListField

I want to extract the name of the field that is being used in a ListField in SharePoint 2010.
For example, let’s say I have a List that has a field named “Created By”. If I select this list in the view, I can click the arrow next to the name of the field to see the field’s metadata. Here’s a screenshot:

In this case, I would like to get the value “Created By” as an string.
If I could extract this string from the ListField (instead of the field’s metadata), I could create a user-friendly label for the column, such as “Created by” instead of “Created By”.

You can get the value with the displayName property of the field.
ListField listField = this.List.Fields[“ColumnName”] as ListField;
string value = listField.DisplayName;

how to set a custom time to a button using timepicker in android?

I have a custom time picker where I want to set a custom time to a button. I have the following code :

public Dialog onCreateDialog(Bundle savedInstanceState) {
// Use the current time as the default values for the picker
final Calendar c = Calendar.getInstance();
int hour = c.get(Calendar.HOUR_OF_DAY);
int minute = c.get(Calendar.MINUTE);

Import and allow you to tweak and review AutoCAD drawings before printing. Redesign and generate new drawings or export designs to a format that makes sense for the customer. (video: 1:31 min.)

Relocate objects and place them in the same or a different location. (video: 1:28 min.)

View the ruler on the drawing canvas. No need to switch tabs. (video: 1:04 min.)

New approaches for more efficient graphic design and drawing.

Designer toolbars:

New interface options and design tools make it easier to work with paper and ink.

Advanced navigation for easier design exploration. Keep working in other applications when you need to, without losing visibility in AutoCAD.

More helpful labeling tools. Use labels to indicate what you are doing in your drawing, and avoid repetitive labels by applying the correct labeling conventions as needed. (video: 1:40 min.)

Stay organized and on top of your work by adding context notes to objects and toolbars.

Simplify drawing tasks by introducing command shortcuts.

Design and drawing projects:

Open and save project files in a new, improved way. Use one project for a whole project group or distribute projects across different folders to keep them organized.

Set up your own workspaces and assign shortcuts to actions to speed up your design and editing process.
