STLNormalSwitcher is a little 3D-Viewer that displays a workpiece from an STL-file (Surface Tesselation Language) in a lighted OpenGl control.
The viewer can rotate the workpiece from all sides, so that you can inspect it and check for cracks and holes.
Triangles can be selected from all sides and displayed in the 3D-Viewer, so that you can easily find triangles that form the walls and other surrounding surfaces. These are called “wall-triangles”.
Triangles that don’t display as wall-triangles can be selected in the 3D-Viewer and their normal vectors inverted, so that they become wall-triangles.
After the inversion, the wall-triangles can be visually identified, as they don’t reflect the light and thus appear darker in contrast to the regular triangles, that are displayed in their normal state.
Working with STL-files and their normal vectors can be cumbersome at first, so STLNormalSwitcher can convert any ASCII STL-file to binary files, so that it can also be used to convert Workpieces from ASCII to Binary. This converter can also be used to convert ASCII to Binary in a second step.
The viewer has a preset display for the lighted control, that makes it easy to select wall-triangles.
If you want to disable or set different colors for the different triangle-colors, you can change the display mode.
